Arrest of Canadian resident getting back from Syria

A 38-year-old Canadian was detained by the RCMP’s Federal Policing Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) at the Montreal-Trudeau Airport on April 6, 2023. In connection with a Terrorism Peace Bond application filed in accordance with section 810.011 of the Criminal Code, this individual was transported to Alberta and appeared at a bail hearing. Until this application is heard, the individual has been released from custody and is now subject to a number of bail conditions.

There will be no further comment on this at this time due to the ongoing criminal investigation by the RCMP.
