Burial of poet Asad Chowdhury has been completed. Asad Chowdhury, one of the poets of Bengali literature, passed away in Toronto, Canada. He was buried at Dauphin Meadows Cemetery in Ontario on Friday at 3:30 pm local time in Toronto.
Earlier, the funeral of poet Asad Chowdhury was held at Islamic Foundation of Toronto Jame Masjid after Friday prayers. Before the janaza, the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Canada paid tribute to the poet’s coffin from 12 noon to 1 am local time in Canada.
Shaoli, the daughter of Asad Chowdhury, said that through the High Commissioner, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed grief over his death and offered to take his body to Bangladesh. But the family decided to bury him in Canada.
It should be noted that poet Asad Chowdhury died at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment in the hospital on Wednesday (October 5) at 3:00 am local time in Toronto. The poet was diagnosed with blood cancer in November last year.
