Musician, adventurer, educator and content creator, Felipe Gomez has officially been announced as the 2021 Saskatchewanderer. He is taking on the Saskatchewanderer role as his personal mission to inspire others to safely explore Saskatchewan, support local businesses, experience the outdoors and embrace the wide diversity of art, cultures, landscapes and wildlife our province has to offer.
“Even during a challenging time, it’s a dream come true to be the 2021 Saskatchewanderer. My engine is primed and once it’s safe to do so again, I will be pumped to explore every corner of Saskatchewan, experiencing all this province has to offer,” Felipe Gomez said. “Through the tapestry of digital storytelling, I can’t wait to showcase the diversity of Saskatchewan’s fascinating and innovative people and places that made me fall in love with this beautiful province I am so proud to call my home!”
The program is now in its 11th year as a successful marketing tool showcasing our province and all it has to offer. With nearly 120,000 followers, Felipe will bring an exciting angle with his skills in videography, photography and social media, mixing in his love of bass guitar, education and cycling.
Felipe will safely explore Saskatchewan over the next 12 months as the 2021 Saskatchewanderer, sharing new stories about what Saskatchewan has to offer. To learn a little bit more about Felipe and why he thinks our province is a great place to live, work, play and visit, see his video below!
Saskatchewan has many rich and diverse stories to tell and beautiful places worth exploring. The innovative staff in the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport and Tourism Saskatchewan have always known the world could use a little more Saskatchewan.
That’s why we scouted high and low across the province to find a person who could create organic, user-generated content showcasing the province as the best place to live, work and play. This person needed to create informative and interesting content engaging audiences near and far. We found our first Saskatchewanderer in 2011.
The Saskatchewanderer started as a summer student position, quickly expanding to a year-long role in 2014. The Saskatchewanderer program’s title sponsor is the Conexus Credit Union. Conexus is a Saskatchewan-based and owned co-operative, helping to improve the financial well-being of its members and communities. As a contributing sponsor, Conexus Credit Union will help ensure the program continues so that all great Saskatchewan stories can be told.
A partner from the inception of the program, CAA Saskatchewan continues as the official vehicle sponsor. The Wanderer will be safer behind the wheel, thanks to CAA for providing a vehicle, a CAA Saskatchewan membership and gas vouchers.
