Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto, Canada celebrates 50th great Victory and 100th Birth Anniversary of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.
The first phase of the celebration began by hoisting the national flag by the Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto Mr. Nayem Uddin Ahmed at Bangladesh House.
The second phase of the program held at the Chancery bypaying homage to the martyrs, Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,mother & sisters who sacrificed their pride and freedom fighters. Victory Day messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by the officers of the Consulate. The oath taking ceremony in Bangladesh administered by the Prime Minister wastelecasted in the hall room and the attending guests and Consulate employees took oath with the Hon. Prime Minister.
The attending guests consisting of Freedom fighters, poets, cultural personalities,Awami League leaders, eminent Bangladeshis briefly expressed their remarks ‘What Bangladesh they expect onthe 50 years of the Victory’. Most of the guest expected a non-communal and no-discriminatory developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ by 2041.
Consul General Mr. Nayem Uddin Ahmeddelivered aspeech highlighting the significance of the day.Consul General urged everyone to befirm to realise the dream of the Father of Nation’s ‘Sonar Bangla’ – which his able daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taking forward to.Consul General Nayem Ahmed said that the development stride under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a ‘role model’ for the whole world. Now, Bangladesh is highly regarded for its economic progress and considered as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, he added.
There was a brief cultural programme performed by Udichi Shilpi Goshthi of Canada. A cake was also cut to celebrate the occasion.The program ended with a special prayerforthe martyrs, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members and continued peace and progress of the country. Toronto Awami League Leaders, freedom fighters, poets, businessmen, teachers, eminent personalities, and officials of the Consulate attended the programme.
