Today, the Yukon government corrected a preclusion of passage request under the Quartz Mining Act to grow the limit of a current marking boycott. Consequently, no new quartz mineral claims will be permitted in the McIntyre Creek region. In addition, a brand-new administrative land reserve was established to provide flexibility for responsible land-use decision making and shield the region from new land dispositions.

The Public authority of Yukon is finding a way these ways to safeguard the McIntyre River region from improvement and mining that could influence future park arranging. The City of Whitehorse’s commitment to begin comprehensive management planning for Chasàn Chuà / McIntyre Creek park alongside the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, and Yukon University is bolstered by these new safeguards.
