The City of Toronto reminds residents that registration for 2023 winter recreation and March Break programs starts tomorrow, December 6. Winter programs begin on Monday, January 9, 2023.
More than 11,000 registered courses with approximately 108,000 spaces, as well as 2,350 drop-in programs will be offered, including arts, fitness and wellness, general interest, skating, skiing, snowboarding, sports and swimming. The City is the largest provider of recreation programs for people of all ages, skill levels and interests.
Registration for winter recreation programs and March Break CampTO starts at 7 a.m. on:
- Tuesday, December 6 – for Etobicoke York (including York South-Weston) and Toronto and East York
- Wednesday, December 7 – for North York and Scarborough
Spaces are still available for Holiday CampTO with camps set to run during the winter school break this and next month. More information is available on the City’s CampTO webpage.
Starting on Wednesday, December 28, Holiday CampTO will take place at Gibson House, one of 10 Toronto History Museums. This new creative camp experience offers outdoor and physical activities, active and quiet games, arts and crafts and nature-based activities in a museum setting. Cedar Ridge Creative Centre’s winter art courses and workshops for adults, youth and children will begin on Monday, January 9, with classes offered in pottery, sculpture, drawing, painting, fibre arts and more.

The Clark Centre for the Arts’ winter art course and workshops will begin on Sunday, January 15, with classes offered in drawing, mixed media, painting, drawing and weaving. Registration opens on December 7. More information is available on the Clarke Centre for the Arts webpage.
The quickest and easiest way to register for winter recreation and March Break programs is online. Registration by phone will also be available at 416-396-7378 beginning at 7 a.m. on registration dates. For in-person registration support, five community centre locations will be open on the following dates from 7 a.m. to noon:
December 6
- Driftwood Community Recreation Centre, 4401 Jane St.
- Masaryk-Cowan Community Recreation Centre, 220 Cowan Ave.
- Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne St.
December 7
- Centennial Recreation Centre, 1967 Ellesmere Rd.
- Dennis R. Timbrell Resource Centre, 29 St. Dennis Dr.
Residents require a family and client number to register for recreation programs and are encouraged to have them ready before registration day. Residents can register for programs, set up a new account or retrieve their existing numbers online at the City’s Recreation Program Registration webpage or by calling the call centre at 416-396-7378. Additional assistance is available today to support residents to prepare for registration. The call centre is open for extended hours today, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The City’s recreation programs are popular and many have waiting lists. If registrants are unable to attend their registered program, they are asked to contact their local community centre or call the customer service line at 416-396-7378 to cancel their booking, so that a spot can be offered to someone else.
Welcome Policy yearly credit
The Welcome Policy credit can be used to register for City recreation programs. Those receiving social assistance (Ontario Works) and living in Toronto are pre-approved to receive this credit and should speak to their caseworker. Discounts for older adults
Participants 60 years of age and older receive a 50 per cent discount on the regular price of adult recreation programs, excluding private, semi-private and small group lessons. Recreation jobs
The City continues to hire for all recreation positions, including skate instructors, rink guards, facility attendants and gatekeepers, sports, fitness and swimming instructors and lifeguards.
