Developed with the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and through extensive public engagement, the Tséi Zhéłe/ Sinwaa Éex’i Yé / Conrad Historic Site Management Plan will protect and conserve this heritage area through a phased implementation plan over the next 10 years. The plan will help Yukoners and visitors better enjoy the natural, historical and cultural value the historic site holds.

Highlights of the plan include:

  • a detailed description and understanding of the history, traditional and contemporary land use at the site and the identification of historic resources;
  • a 10-year action plan for conservation of heritage resources and interpretation at the site, including signage, trail maintenance, campsite and accessibility improvements and the rehabilitation of existing structures; and
  • updated management zones to assist in protecting, preserving and interpreting the overall character and features in each zone.

Located 14 kilometres south-east of Carcross on the western shore of Windy Arm / Tséi Zhéłe Méne  (“Howling Rock Lake”) within the Traditional Territory of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, the Tséi Zhéłe / Sinwaa Éex’i Yé / Conrad Historic Site is popular recreation area with significant historic, cultural and natural features and associations.
