45358 Yukon Inc. officially completed the construction of 12 new affordable homes in the neighbourhood of Copper Ridge in Whitehorse. The homes are already fully tenanted and rented as per the median rent determined by the Yukon Bureau of Statistics. The housing project includes two accessible, barrier-free homes located on the first floor.

The project received $500,000 from the Yukon Housing Corporation’s Housing Initiative Fund (HIF), which supports the development of affordable housing in the territory. All projects under the Housing Initiatives Fund are required to be 25 per cent or more energy-efficient than the National Building Code. For this project, 45358 Yukon Inc. installed solar panels to help offset rising electrical rates and reduce the building’s emissions. The building meets and exceeds the minimum energy code requirements by 52 per cent.

This project will help provide more affordable, well-located and energy-efficient housing options to Yukoners, including access to on-site electric vehicle charging stations.
